The small village of Edgeroi lies 26 kilometres North of Narrabri on the Newell Highway and 90 kilometres South of Moree. Named after the famous Edgeroi Station, it was the largest station in North West New South Wales from the 1800s until after World War II when it was divided into soldier settler blocks. This region has some of the richest agricultural land in Australia and the town serves local farmers and the railway grain silo. Wheat, sorghum, cotton and other dryland crops grow in this area. Four kilometres North of Edgeroi are the remains of the once bustling Edgeroi Station woolshed. Today, Edgeroi is an agricultural village growing wheat, sorghum, dry land summer crops and cotton, and grazing cattle and sheep. The surrounding country consists of flat and rich black soil, framed by the magnificent Nandewar Ranges.
