The town serves the Snowy Hydro Scheme with Snowy Hydro's Murray Two, the second largest power-generating station in the region just 10km from town. Drive the Kosciuszko Alpine Way, a spectacular pass that winds through Thredbo and across the Snowy Mountains to Khancoban. Enjoy lookouts and the rest areas of Tom Groggin Station (where the Man from Snowy River lived and worked), Geehi Rest Area, Leatherbarrel Creek and Scammells Ridge Lookout. Head to Khancoban Pondage for its famous trout fishing, boating, kayaking and swimming.
