buttonPheasants Nest had the first-ever recorded sightings by white settlers of koalas, lyrebirds and wombats. It was an ex-convict, John Wilson, who noted the three animals in his diary describing the lyrebird as a pheasant, hence the name Pheasants Nest and recorded the koala as being known to the Aboriginal people as Cullawine. Pheasants Nest is close to popular attractions such as the Nepean and Avon Dams, offering beautiful views and picnic areas.
