Unanderra is bordered to the west by Farmborough Heights, Cordeaux Heights and Farmborough in the Mount Kembla foothills, the north by Figtree, the east by Berkeley and Flagstaff Hill, site of the Nan Tien Temple and the south by Kembla Grange. Unanderra is an Aboriginal word meaning the "meeting place of creeks" or the "junction of the two creeks". (Unanderra was previously known as Charcoal or Charcoal Creek). Major features of the area include the Kembla Grange Racecourse, Galloping Golf Driving Range, Unanderra Pool and the BHP Sports Stadium.
