buttonBli Bli, which is the Aboriginal word for 'many swamp oak trees', is a watery oasis just waiting to be explored. Home to the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary, the best thing to do is get lost amongst the labyrinth of boardwalks that wind through swamps, mangroves and casuarina woodland. Fill your lungs with fresh air, watch the salty tides lapping against the trees and listen to the Sunshine Coast Poetry Trail which you can access via QR codes dotted along the path. If you’d rather explore this sanctuary by boat over boot, you can cruise along the gentle Maroochy River, looking out for the 200 species of native birds and butterflies that reside in this dreamy spot. For those wanting to add a little bit of history to their holiday, make sure you visit Sunshine Castle for a mini tour (they also have an epic toy store on site). From June to October, pick your own strawberries fresh from the patch at McMartins Strawberry Farm - perfect to add to a picnic. For the daredevils, strap yourself in for an adventure at the Bli Bli Watersports Complex. Tackle the inflatable slides, runways and blast bags of the Aqua Park, or master the art of wakeboarding, knee boarding and skurfing. If you prefer your water sports a bit more zen, try your luck at catching a big Barramundi.
