buttonMount Pleasant is situated 55 kilometres north-east of Adelaide, a part of the Barossa Council area. The town is a 'link' to the Barossa, with gum-studded hills amongst the cropping and grazing areas, with stone walls, expansive landscape views, wineries and cellar door sales just minutes away. The Barossa is home to a developing arts culture, with museums and contemporary work at art stores and galleries. As one of the prominent wine regions of Australia there is much on offer to tempt the discerning traveller. Mount Pleasant is a 'service town' and provides post office, banking facilities, general store, doctors, hospital, chemist, kindergarten and school, and provides caravan park and other accommodation in an ambient rural setting. It is host to one of the largest country shows in South Australia, held third Saturday each March, complete with stock judging, sideshows, entertainment and local produce. Sheep, cattle, horses, goats, alpacas ...they are all on show all year round, or at the annual event. Talunga Park becomes the service centre for the Rally SA motor event annually. As a base for the team service crews, you will see engines changed in the blink of an eye and be able to get up close and personal with both the cars and drivers. Mount Pleasant's leafy main street and self-guided walks may be enjoyed along with the fascinating antique shops, bakery and local hotels. The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market showcases a beautiful array of local produce including fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, small goods and fresh meat, milk, sweet treats and much more! Held every Saturday morning, 8am until 12pm, entry is by gold coin donation to a rotating roster of local charities.
