VolunteeringACT

VolunteeringACT is the peak body for volunteering and community information services. We are volunteering experts in the Canberra Region.  

Our role within the Canberra community is to represent and support volunteerism, to promote its potential and growth for the common good, and to respond to the many opportunities and challenges created by such a diverse activity.

Volunteer Support Service

We aim to help connect individuals in the community with volunteering opportunities; we do this through operating as an active link between individuals and our membership base of about 200 not for profit organisations. We offer a variety of volunteering opportunities that cover a wide range of services in the not for profit sector, including sports, the arts, tourism, education, health, emergency services, animal welfare, the environment, national institutions, and community welfare. We also offer free training sessions for volunteers throughout the year.

Referral Services

  • Inclusive Volunteering Program

VolunteeringACT offers an Inclusive Volunteering Program (IVP) which works with people who may have barriers in their lives find volunteering positions. The IVP aims to assist individuals achieve their goals through volunteering, and to foster greater inclusion within Volunteer Involving Organisations.

Prospective participants may be referred to the program by an organisation, support worker, family member or friend, or an individual may choose to self-refer. Additionally, organisations can contact the IVP to see how they can create a more inclusive volunteering practice.
