About Us

Shift & Co is a Canberra-based organisation, that was founded in 2020, to make coaching available to everyone, especially those living with a disability or mental health struggles. Through our needs-based coaching, we assist people with diverse needs, to overcome adversity, pursue their goals and become more resourceful. Coaching for everyday people.

Our Main Services Are:

One to one mentoring/coaching

Coaching:

  • Talk-based sessions, using a needs-based coaching framework to identify and target impactful areas.
  • Including: check-ins, creation/reassessment of goals, and expansion of the toolbox of personal capacity.

Mentoring:

  • Activity-based support, using an incidental approach to frame real life experiences as growth opportunities.
  • This may involve: supporting participation in services, appointments, activities; or being a trusted confidant.

MATES program

  • Regular catch-ups for young men to connect with other guys and build friendships, whilst having fun (both in-house, such as: tabletop gaming, barber cuts etc and external events, such as: escape rooms, virtual reality).
  • They are ran over two time slots (depending on availability) 11.30-1.30and 2.30-4.30 on Tuesdays.

 

Dungeons and Dragons

  • Dungeons and Dragons with a focus on learning to improvise, a free meal and an opportunity to have fun with people of a similar age/situation.
  • Combining professional gaming facilitators and neurodivergence mentors.
  • We run these session over a three hour period three times a week, Tuesdays 6-9pm, Thursdays 11am-2pm and Fridays 11-2pm. The sessions are ran with a complimentary meal and also have support workers and mentors present to assist attendees throughout the session.
  • We also run Youth sessions for 12-17year olds on Saturdays from 11-2pm.

 

Studio&

  • The program has a person centered approach, meaning the artist is in control of what they would like to explore (lead by the artist not a teaching environment with specific lessons), and we have two art mentors to support and expand these wishes.
  • Meet every Saturday at Canberra College, Phillip, over two different session times 11-1.30pm and 2.30-5pm
  • No prior art knowledge is needed, but wanting to make some connections through art is desirable. Materials are provided however we support artists to bring in materials outside of this if they want, including any art related study material if they would like some assistance

 

Therapy Services

  • Our approach to therapy is simple - we focus on the needs of the individual, foster resourcefulness and help people not only navigate challenges, but to truly thrive. Through our person-centred approach, we adopt a holistic perspective; addressing emotional, social and practical aspects of life, to promote overall well-being. We understand that each person is unique, so we tailor ALL of our sessions to meet the specific needs and goals of the individual we are working with. We're here to help you, and we do it together.
  • Counselling: A word/talk-based therapeutic approach - to assist clients to explore and address their thoughts and feelings.
  • Art Therapy (Creative Expression): A creative and expressive form of therapy where individuals use various art materials and techniques, to better understand themselves, their experiences and their challenges.
  • Creative Expressions - Therapeutic Art Group: A safe and supportive group environment where participants can express their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgement. Participants are able to give and receive support to one another, learning through shared conversation, listening and sharing.

 

Warhammer

  • A unique Warhammer group program designed specifically for young neurodivergent adults. This inclusive and supportive program not only offers a unique opportunity for young neurodivergent adults to step into the world of Warhammer, but also nurtures their personal development, self-expression, and sense of belonging in a supportive and accepting community.
  • Weekly Sessions: focused on game tactics, miniature painting, and terrain building (led by staff experienced in the world of Warhammer).
  • All equipment supplied: including miniature models, paints, battlefields, guidebooks, terrain building supplies and more.
