Lifestyle Options - Greenslopes

Lifestyle Options Inc (LOI) is a small member governed, individualized and self directed accommodation support organization for people with disability. We are based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and support 10 people in various locations in and near greater metropolitan Brisbane. The service operates essentially as ten quite distinct individual support arrangements with each supervised and overseen by the individual with the disability. They in turn are supported by Lifestyle Options which acts as the legal employer of record of the support workers in each instance. LOI is an incorporated body that is managed by a committee of management. This body is drawn from members and member users of LOI and is accountable back to them. This collective governance extends to the overall organization itself with each individual accommodation support arrangement functioning semi-autonomously within the overall framework of LOI. The organization is over twenty years old and was founded by persons with disabilities who saw the need for an empowering and effective alternative to the more institutional support options available at the time. Each person supported has their own allocation of hours determined by the funder and individualized budgets for the spending of these monies. The costs of LOI's own 'central' staff are part of the overall funding arrangement with the funder. LOI is not part of any other organization and is freestanding in its legal status and autonomy as an independent community organization.
