About Us

TAIHS provides a complimentary transport service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients who utilise our services. This service is provided to promote better access to the range of health and specialist services.

Transport can be arranged by speaking with the medical receptionist or the clinic administrative officer, our team asks that clients always try to book transport at least 24 hours in advance, this enables the transport team to plan their run ahead of time.

Clients are encouraged to use their own transport wherever possible to enable those without transport, or those unable to drive or operate a vehicle the opportunity to access medical services in a timely manner.

Please be aware that TAIHS transport officers and other members of the TAIHS team can refuse to provide transport to clients who:

  • refuse to wear a seat belt
  • refuse to have a child restrained according to Transport Regulations
  • are under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
  • are disorderly, aggressive or appear to be mentally unstable
  • use abusive and/or offensive language
  • appear to be in a life threatening condition (an Ambulance will be called immediately)
  • are threatening in any way or may seem they could endanger others
