About Us
FOCAL is a growing not for profit organisation passionate about supporting the community and in particular people with a disability. For over 40 years FOCAL has worked with individuals, their families and carers, playing an advocacy role to create endless opportunities.
At FOCAL, experienced staff work hand in hand with customers, empowering them to achieve their goals and fulfil their dreams.
Services are available through South East Queensland (with Head office in Ipswich), and can be provided in a broad range of flexible delivery including at home or in the community, individually or in group settings.
Services
FOCAL provides individualised services adapted to individual’s situations and goals.

Some of FOCAL’s main services also include:
- Children Services: After school care, vacation care, holidays & camps.
- Community Participation: Accessing the community, linking with services & social networks.
- Lifelong Learning: Creative arts and music, work preparation, linking and support.
- Life Skills: Travel, transport, independence and money management.
- Respite for carers and families.
- In home support: personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation, medication.
- Health and wellbeing.
- High and Complex Needs: ASD and behaviour support.
- Crisis and emergency support.
- Transport.
With FOCAL individuals gain more choice and control over the way support is delivered:
- As a registered NDIS Plan Manager FOCAL gives full control to the individual over the way funds are spent in a hassle free environment. FOCAL also supports you if you want to partially manage your funding.
- Though ‘Your Life Your Choice’ funding FOCAL can also be engaged as a host provider to develop a plan and engage other services of the individual’s choice.
Additional Supports
- Working with individuals and families to assist, prepare and plan for NDIS.
- Free information sessions and workshops providing up-to-date resources and a clear understanding of services and opportunities available in the community.
- Facilitating regular meetings of the Ipswich ‘MyTime Mens Group’ a peer support for fathers, grandfathers, uncles and male friends of young people with a disability. New members are always welcome and activities are usually free.
- Working in partnership with other services to provide regular activities for siblings of people with a disability as well as culturally appropriate services for client and carers of culturally and linguistically diverse background.
- Providing a Mailing List and Facebook that informs people about upcoming events and available services in the region.
- FOCAL provide services to support the specific needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and Intersex community
