About Us

Mackay Public Health Unit works with Vaccine Service Providers including General Practitioners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Services and Hospitals in the MHHS area. Our aim is to maintain and enhance immunisation rates to minimise the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases and protect the health and well-being of individuals and the local community. 

What we do

  • Monitor vaccination coverage and vaccine safety
  • Provide ongoing training and expert clinical advice to vaccine service providers about immunisation and vaccine issues
  • Immunisation data management
  • Coordination of the School Immunisation Program
