Nutrition & Dietetics

The nutrition and dietetics department is responsible for providing a comprehensive dietetic service to patients of Mount Isa Hospital, and indirectly to patients throughout the North West Hospital and Health Service. They provide clinical services to both inpatients and outpatients, both adult and paediatric, and conduct education programs to hospital staff and community groups on a needs basis.

When required the dietitians liaise closely with foodservice staff to ensure that all patients are provided with appropriate meals. The department has a role in teaching and provides clinical and food service placements for under-graduate and post-graduate students.
