About Us
INTRODUCING WELLWAYS – CARER GATEWAY
Carer Gateway is the national, consistent framework of support and services for Carers, delivered and adjusted locally by Wellways.
Carer Gateway is designed by Carers, for Carers to help with daily challenges, reduce stress and plan for the future.
Mental Health Carers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Carers, Carers of children with a disability, Young Carers and Carers navigating the NDIS & ACAT are just some of the Carers who can benefit from the Carer Gateway.
Wellways Staff are employed locally to engage and communicate with Carers. They will inform Local Service providers and work with Consortia Partners to ensure all Carers in the region, including regional and remote, are aware, have access and can shape service delivery of the Carers Gateway.
Services/Supports available under the new Carer Gateway: -
1. Information and referral
2. In-person Counselling
3. In-person Peer Support
4. Facilitated Carer Coaching (January 2021)
5. Carer Directed Services (One off practical support up to $1500)
6. Carer Directed Support (up to $3,000)
7. Emergency Respite
Please note - this funding is independent of any funding and supports the Carer currently receives. For example, NDIS or Aged Care funding packages are not affected.
Carers are encouraged to call the Contact Centre as soon as they are ready. It is open 7 days 6am – 10pm, after 10pm until 6am for emergency respite 1800 422 737. The Contact Centre is located in Brisbane, staffed by experienced Workers who will spend time with each Carer to complete their individual intake assessment and planning.
Local Staff will visit Carers with complex barriers face to face for intake assessment if calling the Contact Centre is a boundary to services.
