About Us
NURTURE, CONNECT, BELONG
MRCCC offers a nurturing environment that is warm and friendly, and values family input into children’s care and learning.
We connect children to others in an inclusive environment based on social justice principles. Alternative perspectives, values, beliefs, lifestyles and people’s cultures and identities are respected and accepted.
We encourage participation in our immediate community, to promote respect and responsibility for the environment and others less fortunate than themselves.
Our intention is to promote a true sense of belonging to the broader community, and a lifelong desire for learning.
COMMUNITY
The Community Centre for Children is a not-for-profit facility operated by the Margaret River Community Centre Inc. All proceeds support the wider operations of the Margaret River Community Centre.
LOCATION
Located in the grounds of the Old Hospital Heritage Precinct, the Community Centre for Children is surrounded by wonderful gardens, neighbours the library and aged care facilities, and is close to other community support groups.
LEARN THROUGH PLAY
Children have opportunities to learn through play, indoors and outside. Grassed areas, our mud kitchen, indigenous and vegetable gardens, a boat and art installations engage and inspire children.
Child-led opportunities abound to discover STEAM – science, technology, engineering, arts and maths. We will encourage your children to get involved and develop a love of learning.
INDIGENOUS RESPECT
Acknowledging the Wardandi people as the original custodians of the land we live, work and play on, the Community Centre for Children provides a program that develops appreciation and respect for the natural environment around us (the land, the plants and the animals) and teaches respect for indigenous peoples.
DIVERSITY & HARMONY
Our Centre plays a significant role in planting the seeds of tolerance, compassion and understanding that will contribute to the creation of a more harmonious society. We welcome families and staff from all cultures and walks of life, celebrating the richness and diversity this creates.
Diversity enriches children’s lives and when nurtured appropriately fosters individuals that are free from discrimination who can positively contribute to their community and the greater society.
CONNECTIONS
Children have opportunities to connect with and assist other people in the community, such as collecting for the homeless and providing assistance at Christmas for the needy.
We explore and foster curiosity for the local environment, enjoying nature walks and caring for our kitchen garden. We venture into the community on excursions to the library and visiting our aged neighbours.
