Cooktown Art

The Cooktown Art Society was formed in 1978 by a Cooktown group interested in improving their artistic skills.  We raised finds and built our gallery in 1988.  At present the gallery has enough space to exhibit around 120 paintings and roughly 10 freestanding works.  The object of our art society is to associate with other artists and those interested in art or the appreciation of art through lectures, field days, workshops and exhibitions.  We are dedicated to the promotion of fine arts in Cooktown and surrounds. We respect diversity and aim to be inclusive so all may share in our creative journey.The Kids Art Society formed in 2012 for a trial period of one year is offering the kids of Cooktown and surrounds the opportunity to learn art skills using high grade art materials to encourage the pursuit of art at the level of interest to each young person.
