About Us

Akers Psychology provides psychological services for adults and adolescents on Queensland's Gold Coast. We offer private appointments as individuals or couples, including counselling, therapy, and psychological assessments, to help you to work towards meeting your goals and psychological needs.

Psychological needs may include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, sleep disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, trauma, or historical childhood abuse. Other needs may relate to substance abuse or dependence for you or a family member, or medical conditions such as chronic pain, acceptance of a long-term medical condition, or assisting a family member with mental or physical health problems.

Along with psychological therapy we can assist you to cope with workplace or personal stress, family stress or abuse, loss and grief, or life changes.

Relapse prevention may form a part of your counselling or therapy to ensure the positive changes you make are sustained.

REFERRALS - If you are planning to be a private client you do not require a referral. If you have a private health fund, check your eligibility for a rebate by contacting your private health fund before booking your appointment. Akers Psychology also accepts referrals from GPs, specialists, private health funds, WorkCover, and Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP - Akers Psychology are committed to ensuring that professional membership of the Australian Psychology Board is upheld,as well as membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
