About Us
Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides a comprehensive range of services to assist people with both mental health and alcohol and other drug issues. We provide a specialised service for individuals of all ages, directly affected by severe and complex mental illness and/or problematic substance use, as well as promoting mental health and wellbeing in the community.
The service strives to promote recovery and build resilience to reduce the impact of mental illness on individuals, their carers and families. We specialise in community-based treatment provided close to home and are supported by a range of inpatient and residential facilities, depending on the clinical needs of the consumer.
How can we help you?
We have a range of services with a strong emphasis on collaborative care, and provide active engagement and partnership with consumers, carers, family and general practitioners to assist in recovery.
We provide:
- Assessment and ongoing treatment for major mental disorders, mental health problems and alcohol and other drug use and harm.
- Consultation and support for families.
- Consultation and co-ordination with other treatment agencies and community services including GPs and private psychiatrists, other government, and non-government service providers.
- Education and information on health and other drug issues including treatment, medications, recovery, and relapse prevention.
- Peer Support workers with lived experience in mental health use their experience of their recovery journey to support people with mental health issues, through peer support, positive role modelling, education, facilitating self-advocacy and providing information and opportunities to encourage participation and demonstrating that recovery is possible.
Referrals may be from GP, local Hospital or Health Clinic, other service provider, family/carers or self
Services include Intake/Triage, Older Person’s and Perinatal Psychiatry, Child & Youth Psychiatry, Case Management. Assessment and treatment options for people with Drug and Alcohol issues. Referral to other agencies for ongoing care and/or support. Services are provided in Roma, Charleville, St George and surrounding districts.
There is a 24hour crisis phone service on 1300 MHCALL (1300 648855) which goes to the nearest service and afterhours and weekends the call diverts to Toowoomba Acute Care Team.
Social and Emotional Health Team provides Social Work services to the Western Sector for South West including Charleville and Cunnamulla and surrounding communities.

Services include support for social and emotional health issues, grief and trauma support, advocacy, referral to other services and support to link with other services.
