About Us
What We Deliver
- CatholicCare’s fully qualified case workers provide Bail Support Activities that provide court advocacy to support young people to:
§ Engage with families and provide assistance with transport to and from court for young people and families where required.
§ Assist with diversionary referrals for non-youth justice clients to relevant supporting services.
§ Provide updates to court staff about on-going compliance and attendance in programs for all clients.
§ Providing support where required for young people and families to access accommodation, treatment and/ or specialised support, education and development activities.
- CatholicCare’s fully qualified case workers provide Case Management support to young people on bail to:
§ Assess and reduce the level of risk of reoffending for young people
§ Develop individual bail support plans for clients that accepted/ agree to participate in the program.
§ engage with youth justice staff and provide regular updates and participate in regular review meetings.
- CatholicCare collaborates with a range of organisations, referral partners and community leaders for the Coordination of community youth support to assist with:
§ Physical and Mental Health assessments
§ Positive Social activities – culturally appropriate
§ Education referrals as required
§ Housing referrals as required
§ Addiction referrals as required

- Our goal is to work with the young people to make positive changes in their lives, such as:
- Improved cultural connectedness
- Improved family/kin relationships
- Improved participation in learning
- Improved participation in employment
- Improved housing situation
- Our Youth Bail Support Program helps to ensure that young people will have:
- Improved chances of being granted bail
- Improved capacity to meet their conditions of bail
- Increased strengths and wellbeing
- Families contributing to help reduce offences in future
- Eligibility Criteria
- The person, people or families (where appropriate) receiving support must meet the following criteria to receive support:
- Be involved in the Youth Justice system
- Have committed or are alleged to have committed an offence
- Are remanded in custody or at risk of remand due, in part, to lack of positive support in their community
- Are exiting detention from a period of remand and are at risk of returning to detention
- Are appearing in court on offences and are at risk of being remanded in custody
- Have been granted bail and require support to meet the conditions of bail
